Free things are great. Free things are even better when they make our lives easier and provide some level of convenience. While I’d be lying if I said I was a big Uber fan, I am all about taking advantage of free membership and free credits for some free food. Sign me up!
What is UberOne?
UberOne gets you a range of benefits, the most useful of which I find to be the no-fee deliveries (a more complete list below). It’s actually valuable because it makes taking advantage of AMEX monthly Uber credits ($15 on AMEX Platinum, $10 on AMEX Gold) really, really easy. One “free” meal a month. I’d normally reflect that it’s a bit of a scam to pay a premium for cash-back type perks. In this case, because you really should be able to get it for free, that’s not the case.
- $0 delivery fee on eligible food & groceries
- 6% back on rides in the form of Uber One credits
- Up to 10% off eligible food deliveries and pickups
- No cancellation fees on rides

So how exactly do I get it for free?
While there may be more out there, I’ll focus on the three I’m most familiar with currently.
- Apple Card comes with 6 months for free (this has no annual fee, so very easy to get & take advantage of)
- Various American Express Cards come with membership (AMEX Platinum as a card benefit, as well as many of the Delta cards as a temporary benefit)
- TD Bank is offering 3 – 6 months for free for new UberOne customers
The extreme gamer in me loves this because you get some VERY NOMINAL free points from the recurring $9.99/monthly charge, too. 100% back means free rewards.
The most valuable thing in the world? No, but I’ve found the extra freebie is useful and valuable.
