Month-end recap: $2,489 of rewards, freebies, and flights in August 2026!

The fun (for me!) monthly rewards series continues! All in all August was a good month with some big, expensive travel savings. No new cards and pretty light activity outside of the silly Venmo offer. Generally weak card offers out there, but we know that’s likely to turn at any time!

The goal of this monthly series is a quick pulse on the variety and value of rewards for staying active in credit card/loyalty gaming.

Rewards $627

The Bank signups continue. Wells Fargo came in clutch for $400 of this. The balance is cash rewards redemptions on cards.

Note that this EXCLUDES Venmo rewards, which I’ll cover separately (this is my primary card for the past few months, negatively impacting rewards redemptions on other cards!)

Offers: $15

Summertime lull continues. $10 back to set up Apple Pay on an AMEX card. $5 for booking a movie ticket (AMEX Offers).

Perks $92

No big highlights here. This was made up of primarily AMEX Platinum rebates, so most of this was paid for with annual fees. Two Resy credits (AMEX Platinum for $47.17 & AMEX Delta Platinum for $10). Throw in the monthly $15 Uber credit and a few Lyft credits and you’re at this relatively unimpressive total.

Loyalty Redemption $1,755

Turns out there’s some serious value out there, even when you’re somewhat inflexible with dates. This is made up of two major bookings, one for 2x round trip tickets to Cancun in early 2027 ($317 paid cost, $1,172 in booking value on JetBlue) and one for 1x round trip ticket to Hawaii in October (Ironman World Championships, $11 paid cost, $911 in booking value.) Total value for points here was OK at JetBlue (1.2 cents/point), and good for American Airlines (2 cents/point)
