Capital One Shopping — one-stop shop for auto-applied coupons, portal cash back, and killer promotional offers

This past month I was on the hunt for a new indoor bike rack. After some shopping around, I found the perfect setup from Container Store, added it to my cart, and prepared to move forward. Before I did, a nice little promotion popped up in my Capital One Shopping browser extension. “Exclusive Offer: $60 back if you spend $100 at Container Store”. Capital One shopping sweetened it further, auto-applying coupons for 30% off. My $154.72 cart dropped to $108.29 (30% off + tax) and ultimately came out to $48.29 after $60 back in rewards post-purchase. What an absolute steal. Perfect highlight of what Capital One Shopping offers

What is Capital One Shopping?

At its core, Capital One Shopping is an all-in-one shopping portal and coupon shopping tool. Coupon applications discount purchase price, while the shopping portal payments results in rewards redeemable for a wide selection of gift cards.

What makes it so useful?

Through either a browser application (both desktop and mobile) or directly through their website, customers are able to take advantage of killer deals. The portal offers generally good cash-back rates, and the coupon application tool finds some genuinely impressive discounts. Over the past few years, this has saved me hundreds of dollars on dozens of transactions. The browser integration makes it wholly painless, with no complex “click through” required as is typical for other cash back portals.

My overall take is there’s some solid value here, and it’s a great tool to simply add to your browser, and take advantage of for near-automatic cash-back and discounts.
